Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need financial counseling?
Each persons situation is unique and there is no "one size fits all" approach to your finances. Together, we can
develop a plan that can work for you and your goals.

Why does my spouse need to attend the counseling with me?
Both spouses need to be in agreement on any financial plan, or it is doomed to fail from the beginning. Since you
are both involved in the implementation of your financial plan, you both need to be involved in developing it.

Will this be kept confidential?
Absolutely!! All of the information is kept completely confidential and will not be shared without your
knowledge and consent.

Why shouldn't I just consolidate my debts?
Debt consolidation does not change the amount owed, only who gets paid and for how long. The real problem
with debt consolidation is that it does not address the real problems and behaviors. Counseling looks at changing
the behaviors that got you into financial trouble in the first place.

Why not just declare bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy is a life-changing event that can cause long term damage to your credit as well as your self esteem. It
is listed as one of the top five negative life events that can happen. Many loan and even job applications
consider if you have
ever declared bankruptcy.

How much do you charge for counseling?
The fees for the counseling packages are on a sliding scale based upon the specific financial situation. The
specific fee and payment(s) will be established at the conclusion of the initial 30 minute consultation.
